My Fourth Year Of Rehab And Recovery

On January 4th, 2004 I was discharge from hospital, I was very excited to get out of there because for almost three months in there it was like prison to everyone, I came out with a fixed heart and hope never to go back in the hospital again, I know to survive five cardiac arrest and still be alive was a miracle indeed. And I thank God for giving me this chance to live and be happy with my parents and brothers and sisters0, this was a very traumatizing experience to each and everyone of us, and I pray never to put them through this again.

My rehab at home was a very slow one. I was in An Early Intervention Programmed so there was a lot of therapist coming at my home to work with me. I had speech and swallowing, physical therapy, fine modem and sensory, a special educational instructor, a nurse and a home health aide to take care of me at home. It was a great experience for me I enjoyed it a lot I love my physical therapist the most he was the one who help me to walk, run and climb up stairs I had a lot of fun learning with him.His name is Ihor Slalenky. During my recovery at home, I was in the hospital for check ups most of the time I had to do blood work to check my anticoagulant once a week at the time to make sure my blood level was between 0.3to 3.5 for my safety, my blood had to be very thin so to avoid any clotting from occurring. The drawing of the blood was the hardest sometimes they could not get the blood from one stick and they had to do the same procedure like four to five times before the technician could draw blood from me. My veins from ever since was very fine and there was a problem since birth for any one to draw the blood. The checking of the blood after a while came less frequent I used to go once a week for it and that was fantastic, now I go every months for blood work, so therefore I improved a lot from what I used to be.

After 31/2 years I grew out of early intervention and now I go to a school for children with disability, it is ABC Cassidy; the school is great I have a one to one Para who takes me in a bus to and from school Monday to Friday 9.00am to 11.30 am. The school is fabulous I have a lot of new friends and beautiful teachers whom I have lots of fun with, I also have therapist in the school to help me with speech, feeding and physical activity, I love it very much, but sometimes I got sick so I am unable to go to school and have to go to the doctor instead for fever, vomiting, and the flu. I am growing a little at a time I am 4 years old and almost 30lb isn’t that great, the only setback for me right now is still feeding with the NG Tube, I cannot tolerate much of anything in my mouth as yet but I’m working on it.

My mom look after me she doesn't work because of my heart problem, I have to be looked after contineously. I receive SSI and that money help my mom look after me it is not a lot but it helps, I am glad my mom is with me all the time she is my inspiration and I love her very much.

My Christmas this year was really fun Guess What? Santa Claus came and give me lots of present and I took out picture with him my baby sister also took out picture with him but she was too scared to be with him she cried a lot and keep running away, but I stayed because of all the gifts I was receiving from him.

I am getting better as the days go by the only problem right now is the blood flow from my LSVC which the doctors is not seeing, I hope they should be able to do something fast so the problem could be solve and I could continue with my life without any more serious mishap, also the medication I am taking especially the cumudin which is the blood thinner is at a pretty high dose and I have to see the hematologist to see what can be done. The doctor also what to remove the feeding tube from my nostril and put a peg in my stomach so it will be easier for me to swallow without the tube in my nose going all the way to the back of my mouth where my swallowing is taking place. But I would have to be hospitalized for this procedure for about one week because of my blood clotting issue. I do hope all my new problem is taken care of so I can continue with a normal life soon.

Thank You all for visiting my website I do hope you enjoyed it very much, Shiva.
